MAXREFDES Reference Designs

Analog Devices Inc. MAXREFDES Reference Designs accelerate designs with specific examples of high-performance Maxim products in actual circuits. These reference designs include design implementations from single parts to subsystems, all the way up to full system designs. Each design has been built and tested. These are offered in analog front end (AFE), output isolated power supplies, sensors and various other reference designs that allow engineers to implement various Maxim devices into their applications.

Sensor Reference Designs

Analog Devices Inc. MAXREFDES15, MAXREFDES16, MAXREFDES23DB, MAXREFDES27, MAXREFDES38, and MAXREFDES70 are each sensor-related reference designs. The MAXREFDES15 Monterey is an ultra-low power, high accuracy 4-20mA 2-wire current loop sensor evaluation board. The MAXREFDES16 Novato is a 16-bit, high-accuracy, loop-powered temperature transducer that transmits temperature information from a remote object to the central control unit over a 4-20mA current loop and using the highway addressable remote transducer (HART) communication protocol. The MAXREFDES23DB Santa Cruz is the world's smallest IO-Link light sensor with six integrated sensors ambient light (clear), red, green, blue, infrared, and temperature all on a tiny printed circuit board (PCB) that is 6.5mm x 25mm. The MAXREFDES27 is a tiny IO-Link proximity sensor with an IR receiver, matching IR LED driver, IO-Link transceiver, and energy-efficient step-down converter all on an 8.2mm x 31.5mm printed circuit (PC) board. The MAXREFDES38 provides the low-power, high-speed, high-accuracy analog front-end designed for the ECT/EPT or current fault sensor application. The MAXREFDES70 uses ultrasonic Time-of-Flight (ToF) which sends and receives ultrasonic waves between piezoelectric transducers in both the upstream and downstream directions in the pipe.

MAXREFDES70 Heat & Flow Meter

Analog Devices Inc. MAXREFDES70 Heat and Flow Meter uses ultrasonic Time-of-Flight (ToF) which sends and receives ultrasonic waves between piezoelectric transducers in both the upstream and downstream directions in the pipe. An accurate flow rate can be calculated by measuring the ToF difference between the upstream and downstream wave travel with digital signal processing. The MAX35101 time-to-digital converter is the center of the heat/flow meter system. The MAX35101 integrates the functions needed for automatic ToF measurements, including the ultrasonic pulse launching and detecting, ToF calculating, temperature measurements, and a real-time clock. The ADI MAX35101 can work in various configurable automatic even timing modes, requiring minimal interactivity from a host microcontroller and reducing the power consumption of the system.

MAXREFDES67 Universal Analog Input Micro PLC

Analog Devices MAXREFDES67 Universal Analog Input Micro PLC is ideal in factory automation because its analog input supports flexible measure current, voltage, RTDs, and thermocouple signals with isolated power and data. With Industry 4.0 changes in industrial architectures, the Analog Devices MAXREFDES67 allows the designer to build highly configurable, distributed, intelligent control systems that accept multiple sensors.
