The Semtech SX9310 SAR proximity sensor, available from Mouser Electronics, regulates RF exposure to reduce specific absorption rate (SAR) — the measure of RF power that is radiated into the human body when in close proximity to a connected device. The device features a unique on-chip smart engine designed for human detection and advanced SAR control. The device provides best in-class sensitivity for optimal human presence detection by offering up to three channels of high-performance capacitive sensing inputs, exceptional low temperature drift for stable measurement, and a combined proximity mode to help minimize the sensing area.
The SX9310 smart sensor features ultra-low power consumption and operates directly from a 2.7V - 5.5V input supply voltage. The device's built-in I²C serial communication bus port is compatible with the 1.8V host control to help report body detection and proximity and to facilitate parameter setting adjustments. The SX9310 also includes an auto-calibration controller that regularly performs sensitivity adjustments to maintain peak performance over a wide variation of temperature, humidity, and noise environments.
