TransGuard® Mulitlayer Varistors

KYOCERA AVX TransGuard® Multilayer Varistors provide a wide range of reliable SMT components for bidirectional overvoltage protection with the advantage of EMI/RFI attenuation in the off-state for professional, industrial, and commercial applications. TransGuard MLVs are zinc oxide (ZnO) based ceramic semiconductor devices with non-linear voltage-current characteristics (bi-directional) similar to back-to-back Zener diodes. These KYOCERA AVX MLVs have the added advantage of more significant current and energy handling capabilities, speedy turn-on time, multiple strikes capability, and EMI/RFI attenuation in the off-state.

Automotive AEC-Q200 Varistors

KYOCERA AVX Automotive AEC-Q200 Varistors are ideal for circuit protection in automotive applications. KYOCERA AVX offers a wide range of highly reliable, AEC-Q200-qualified components. These include low capacitance varistors for high-speed data lines/RF circuits and high-energy, high-temperature, and harsh environment varistors. KYOCERA AVX Automotive Varistors provide reliable protection against automotive-related transients, such as load dump, jumpstart, and ESD, to protect the growing number of electronic systems used in automotive applications.

AntennaGuard Varistors

KYOCERA AVX AntennaGuard Varistors are a single-chip option for low capacitance varistors and feature small TVS components, standard EIA chip sizes, and fast response time to ESD strikes. The 0402/0603 size is available in capacitance values of ≤3pF and ≤12pF. Applications include laser drivers and ESD protection for RF amplifiers. The AntennaGuard/SPV varistors are offered in a low profile 0402 case size with ultra-low capacitance ESD protection, high reliability, low insertion loss, and bidirectional protection. Applications for KYOCERA AVX AntennaGuard Varistors include antennas, optics, HDMI, and RF circuits.

High-Temperature Automotive Varistors

KYOCERA AVX High-Temperature Automotive Varistors offer bidirectional protection and are AEC-Q200 qualified. The VTA AEC-Q200-qualified multilayer varistors allow designers to combine the circuit protection and EMI/RFI attenuation function into a single highly reliable device. The VTA series is tested, qualified, and specified for temperatures up to +175°C with no derating, and offers varistors with FLEXITERM® technology that provides up to 5mm of flexure without internal cracking. The VGAH series features a +150°C maximum temperature and is available in larger sizes than the VT series. The VGAH varistors are glass-encapsulated, providing enhanced resistance against harsh environments.

Antenna PowerGuard Low Capacitance Varistors

KYOCERA AVX Antenna PowerGuard (AP) Low Capacitance Varistors offer an 18VDC to 70VDC working voltage range, ultra-low capacitance, and energy ratings. The AP components provide tighter capacitance tolerances and improved ESD energy ratings. These varistors are AEC-Q200 qualified for automotive applications and designed for RF circuits, sensors, high-speed lines, optic circuits, and capacitance-sensitive applications. The KYOCERA AVX AP Varistors are available in 1.5pf, 2.0pf, and 3.3pfd with capacitance tolerances as tight as 0.5pfd. These tighter tolerances offer confidence that circuits will always perform the same from batch to batch while fully maintaining signal integrity. The ability to handle more significant transients makes the Antenna PowerGuard series useful in applications where tight tolerances, low capacitances, and high levels of ESD protection are required.
