Analog Devices Inc. HEV/EV LTC3300 Multicell Battery Balancers
Analog Devices Inc. HEV/EV LTC3300 Bidirectional Multicell Battery Balancers are fault-protected controller ICs for transformer-based bidirectional active balancing of multicell battery stacks. The series integrates all associated gate drive circuitry, precision current sensing, fault detection circuitry, and a robust serial interface with a built-in watchdog timer. The LTC3300 modules can balance up to six series-connected battery cells, each with an input common-mode voltage of up to 36V. Charge from any selected cell can be transferred at high efficiency to or from 12 or more adjacent cells. The level-shifting SPI-compatible serial interface enables multiple LTC3300-1 devices to be connected in series, without optocouplers or isolators, enabling the balancing of every cell in a long string of series-connected batteries. The LTC3300-2 balancers have an individually addressable serial interface, admitting up to 32 LTC3300-2 devices to interface to one control processor.Analog Devices LTC3300 Bidirectional Multicell Battery Balancers come with fault protection features that include readback capability, cyclic redundancy check (CRC) error detection, maximum on-time volt-second clamps, and overvoltage shutoffs.
