HALO Electronics Fully Isolated Transceiver Solutions for RS-485

Maxim Integrated and HALO Electronics partner to offer fully isolated transceiver solutions for RS-485/Profibus high speed industrial applications. Maxim RS-485/Profibus half-duplex DP transceivers provide galvanic isolation (2750V or 5000V), improving communications by breaking ground loops. This reduces noise caused by large differences in ground potential between ports.

HALO isolated transformers provide galvanic isolation (2750V or 5000V) on the power supply. These transformers have been designed with the optimal turns ratios and ET constant for use with the Maxim transceivers. When both solutions are used, the signal and power are completely isolated between cable and UART sides of the circuit.

MAX14940 Solution

HALO TGMS-14 (supplemental insulation) and TGMR-14 (reinforced insulation) isolation transformers are specifically designed for use with the MAX14940, MAX14943, MAX14946, and MAX14949 RS-485/Profibus transceivers.
