Texas Instruments TPS769/TPS769-Q1 100mA LDO Voltage Regulators

Texas Instruments TPS769/TPS769-Q1 Low-Dropout (LDO) Voltage Regulators offer the benefits of low dropout voltage, ultralow-power operation, and miniaturized packaging. These regulators feature low dropout voltages and ultralow quiescent current compared to conventional LDO regulators. The TPS769/TPS769-Q1 series devices are ideal for micropower operations, where board space is at a premium, and are offered in a 5-terminal small outline integrated-circuit SOT-23 package.

A combination of new circuit design and process innovation has replaced the usual PNP pass transistor with a PMOS pass element. Because the PMOS pass element behaves as a low-value resistor, the dropout voltage is very low, typically 71mV at 100mA of load current (TPS76950/TPS76950-Q1), and is directly proportional to the load current. Since the PMOS pass element is a voltage-driven device, the quiescent current is ultra-low (28uA maximum) and is stable over the entire range of output load current (0mA to 100mA). Intended for use in portable systems such as laptops and cellular phones, the ultra-low-dropout voltage feature and ultralow-power operation significantly increase system battery operating life.

The TPS769/TPS769-Q1 also features a logic-enabled sleep mode to shut down the regulator, reducing quiescent current to 1uA typical at TJ = 25°C. The TPS769/TPS769-Q1 is offered in 1.2V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 2.7V, 2.8V, 3.0V, 3.3V, and 5V fixed-voltage versions and a variable version (programmable over 1.2V to 5.5V range). The TPS769-Q1 devices are AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications.
