Vicor eMobility Applications

Vicor eMobility Applications are high-performance power modules optimized for 48V power delivery. These modules offer high power density and high efficiency with easier thermal management. The compact eMobility devices feature low EMI, fast transient response, and efficient power delivery to help extend runtime. These power modules can be paralleled or swapped, allowing designs to accommodate recent loads or changes in power. The eMobility devices are tested and qualified power modules to build power delivery networks that can be designed quickly. Typical applications include robotics, 48V devices, rail, lighting, power modules for UAVs, automatic test equipment, and battery formation.

The Power Delivery Network

The isolated, high-density BCM fixed-ratio converters safely and reliably convert a high-voltage input into standard Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV) 48Vbus output voltages to power 48V loads. Paralleling BCMs can reach the power level required to support all of the vehicle's accessory loads. The Vicor DCM4623 DC-DC converter modules supply 12V car loads like ABS by converting high-voltage batteries. Power modules excel in efficiency and power density to maximize range and reduce charging times in LEVs. Soft-switching topologies allow for DC-DC voltage transformation without generating harmonics, high-frequency components that are often very difficult to filter. Furthermore, the components of the EMI filter can be made smaller due to the high-frequency operation.
