Mouser-Backed DS PENSKE Formula E Racing Team Returns to Historic Tempelhof Airport in Berlin for Doubleheader

July 9, 2025 - Mouser Electronics, Inc., the New Product Introduction (NPI) leader™ empowering innovation, is ready to cheer on the DS PENSKE Formula E racing team in Berlin, Germany, for rounds 13 and 14 of the Season 11 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The race weekend will kick off on July 12.

The Berlin races will again occur at the historic Tempelhof Airport, known for its abrasive track surface. The repeating concrete slabs that make up much of the track require drivers to adjust their strategies to deal with energy management and tire wear. The track was largely reconfigured in 2024 to better suit the speed and characteristics of the Gen3 cars. Spanning 2.343km, the amended Tempelhof circuit introduced five new turns, including a tight hairpin at the center of the circuit.

The DS PENSKE Formula E team is led by Maximilian Günther and two-time Formula E Champion Jean-Éric Vergne as they pilot the new GEN3 Evo car. The GEN3 Evo is faster, stronger, and more agile than its predecessors and features an aggressive new body kit designed to be stronger, more robust and more aerodynamic. The new GEN3 Evo cars can go from 0-60 mph in 1.82 seconds, 30% faster than an F1 car. It also allows for all-wheel drive, a first for a Formula E car.

Saturday's race will include PIT BOOST, an innovative mid-race feature that provides a 10% energy increase (3.85 kWh) to race cars through a 34-second, 600 kW rapid recharge in the pit lane. Each driver must choose the optimal moment to use PIT BOOST, adding an extra layer of drama to every race. Designed to enhance strategy, unpredictability and fan engagement, PIT BOOST showcases cutting-edge EV ultra-fast recharging technology while adding a thrilling new dimension to Formula E races.

The Berlin Formula E weekend will also feature a Rookie Test race, with Nikita Bedrin driving for DS PENSKE. Bedrin has previously raced in karting and single-seaters and recently captured his first FIA Formula 3 Sprint Race victory in 2024. Bedrin’s first on-track experience with DS PENSKE, on July 14, will give him a unique opportunity to familiarize himself with the demands of all-electric racing.
